This fall Canadians can now "Ride to the max". Something that, until recently, was primarily restricted to Australians.
Andrew Hepburn, 27, of Aurora and Brett Dunlop, 25, of Newmarket, ON, have launched DirtMax North America to fill the void for moderately priced dirt bikes in Canada.
"The reason we’ve launched this company, is that we see there’s a need for middle market bikes for people that want to get into this sport, but can’t afford to," said Hepburn.
DirtMax has four different bikes currently available on their website, and, according to Dunlop, they are looking to expand their product’s availability throughout North America.
"We’re planning for an American rollout in the late fall and while bikes are now available online, we are focusing on expanding sales to dealers," he said.
Of the four options available to consumers, their entry model is a 110cc at a price of $1,095 while their top end bike, a 250cc, is only $3,395.
With numbers like that, DirtMax bikes have already drawn rave reviews from people in the industry.
"I was really impressed with the way the bikes rode and handled," said mechanic Matt Marshall of his introduction to DirtMax vehicles. "It's definitely great quality and you can't beat the price."
In addition to the products, Hepburn thinks that the company’s commitment to customer service will set them apart from other brands.
"We’re going to provide full service for these bikes," he said. "We’re going to be out there offering parts and we give a 90-day warranty."
The core of the DirtMax business plan is to offer high-end quality at competitive prices, and targeting recreational riders as their primary consumers.
"The majority of the riders on dirt bikes aren’t actually in competitions," said Hepburn. "They’re just out there enjoying the sport."
"I'd really like to see more families getting out to ride," he said. "That's why we carry bikes from 110cc 'pit bikes' right up to full size 250cc bikes."

I have seen the Quality Of these bikes. I don't know much about the larger bikes, but I have personally tried out the 110 Pit bike and I would buy this bike without hesitation, even if it was priced the same as a honda. The Quality is as good if not better than the honda "pit" bike. The Mechanic (Matt Marshall) Really knows what he is doing, he is very helpful with all of the questions that I threw at him. Anyone out there thinking of buying one of these bikes, you are definatly thinking of buying the right product.
